DASSIA
Corfu is
small enough to be friendly and large enough to provide a never-ending
change of scenery.
Located just 10km north of Corfu Town on the east coast, Dassia is
situated along a pretty stretch of coastline and has everything to offer
all ages. The long stretch of pebble and shingle beach can be reached by
various side roads leading off from the main road that runs through the
resort. The beach gently slopes to clear shallow waters and is ideal for
swimming. Although the beach is fairly narrow, the hotels that line the
beach have plenty of sunbathing facilities set in gardens. Dassia has
excellent water sport facilities with water skiing, scuba diving,
paragliding, boat hire, bananas and ringo's to name but a few.
The resort has an abundance of quality restaurants ranging from
traditional Corfiot and Greek cuisine to Chinese and Italian. For those on
a budget you can get a good three course meal and sample
quality Greek cuisine for just a few pounds. The Greeks adore children and
they are more than welcome in most bars and restaurants.
Evening entertainment is relaxed and laid back. There are enough bars to
keep everyone happy, but Dassia is not a lively nightclub resort. There
are no night clubs as such, but some bars stay open fairly late and there
is a bar/disco that stays open until the early hours of the morning.
However Ipsos, where the late night party people head for, is the next
resort along and only a short taxi ride away.
CORFU
Sun-kissed beaches, elegant architecture, abundant cultural activities and
enchanting
nightlife all play their part in attracting visitors from all over the
world.
Situated
in the north-western corner of Greece and not far from the heel of Italy,
Corfu attracts thousands of tourist from all over the world.
Corfu's colourful history is displayed through its unique archaeological
sites and the
varied architecture in and around the town centre.
Explore the island and you will be rewarded with some of the most
spectacular
scenery on offer in any destination. Head north along the east coast and
you will come
to Dassia and Ipsos and their long beaches and many restaurants. The north
east
coastline offers some of the best scenery on the island and is dotted with
small resorts
such as Kaminaki and Agni. Kassiopi, a lively and picturesque resort, is
famous for its
lace industry. Acharavi and Roda share the island's longest stretch of
beach.
Sidari, a hive of activity on the north west tip, is famous for its
amazing cliffs. The
west coast offers some fabulous sandy beaches and pretty resorts such as
Agios
Gordis and Glyfada. Paleokastritsa arguably has some of the best views
available
anywhere in the world. The south also has its fair share of fine beaches
and Lefkimmi,
the capital of the south, is the second largest town on the island.
Benitses is a unique
resort combining lazy days with lively nights and Messonghi and Moraitika
have
something to offer young and old alike. Kavos, last but by no means least,
is
definitely the place to be for sun and fun.
If you are sports minded men Corfu is the place for you. There is a
multitude of
watersports available including water-skiing, paragliding and scuba
diving.
For the golfer in the family there is a superb 18 hole championship golf
course. Other
leisure activities include cricket played on possibly one of the most
picturesque
pitches around, tennis in Greece's oldest tennis club and walking,
climbing, horse
riding, sailing and fishing to name just a few more.
With a welcome as warm as the sun, the Corfiot people have their own
unique brand
of hospitality. The greenest of all the Greek islands, Corfu is an easy
place to get to,
but a difficult place to leave!
